Dear Minnesota,
I want you to know that one alumni is accredited with developing a semi-dwarf, disease resistant wheat varieties that earned a Nobel Peace Prize.

Norman Borlaug is a UMN alum who worked in Mexico to develop the wheat varieties to provide food security for nations like Mexico, Pakistan, and India where high yield crops were vital to providing a stable source of food. His work is so important to millions of people around the globe in 1970, he won the Nobel Peace Prize. To this day, his legacy at the University of Minnesota and around the world inspires others to take on challenges that change the world.

All students, current or former, should use his story to empower their own career and personal aspirations to make big impacts.
