Dear Minnesota,
I wanted picture rails to display photos in my home. I contacted my local extension educator and asked if they would be interested in earning money for their club by having 4-H woodworking project members build them. The extension educator included the forestry project members in this endeavor by taking them on a field trip to his woods. The 4-Hers learned how to choose and fell a tree, and how to cut the log for stock. This beautiful rail is more meaningful than a commercially manufactured rail because it is made from a tree that grew in my community.
